Carolyn Elizabeth Accinno and Peter Ryan Vandall attended middle school and high school together, but didn’t actually meet until they were in the same physics class as seniors in New Canaan High School’s class of 1999.

Just before Christmas 2006, Pete planned a weekend trip to Newport, Rhode Island, complete with dinner at the Clarke Cooke House, one of the couple’s favorite restaurants. After dinner, during a walk along a nearby dock overlooking the water and the Newport Bridge, he proposed.

The couple was married by the Reverend Leszek Szymaszek at Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in New Canaan. Michael Accinno, the bride’s brother and a graduate student in music at the University of Iowa, was the soloist. To celebrate their love of the ocean and sailing, the couple designed their reception at the Shore and Country Club in Norwalk around a nautical and beach theme.

The daughter of Peter and Patricia Accinno of New Canaan, the bride is a fourth-grade teacher at East Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Davidson College in North Carolina, and a master’s degree in teaching from Sacred Heart University.

The groom is the son of Peter and Betsy Vandall, also of New Canaan. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island, and is an online editor with Concentric Entertainment, a television production company in Norwalk.

After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple returned home to Norwalk.
