A sorority sister introduced Leanna Maria Lugliani to Drew Dennis Lyon during their sophomore year at the University of Colorado. They dated throughout college, traveled to Spain together during their junior year and, following graduation in 2003, moved to San Diego to begin their careers. Two years later, during a candlelight dinner at the home of the bride’s parents, Drew surprised Leanna with a romantic proposal. 

The couple was married by the Reverend Monsignor Lenihan in a garden ceremony at the Palos Verdes Estates home of Dr. Robert and Dolores Lugliani, parents of the bride. The ceremony took place under a gazebo, and the reception was held on a three-level terrace surrounding the pool, with views of the Pacific Ocean and the city lights of Los Angeles.

The bride is a part-time aesthetician at a medical spa and plastic surgery office in San Diego and is a student at National University, where she expects to complete her bachelor’s degree in nursing in February 2009. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in business from the University of Colorado.

The son of Gary and April Lyon of Darien, the groom is a 1999 graduate of Darien High School and received his bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in business from the University of Colorado. He is an REO sales specialist for Reliable Realty in San Diego.

After a honeymoon in South Africa, the couple returned home to La Jolla.
