Leigh Ann Walsdorf and Brendan Stapleton Moynihan met in 2002 at Georgetown University. They were introduced by Leigh’s good friend and classmate who just happened to be Brendan’s sister. The couple became friends but didn’t start dating until the summer of 2004, when both were living and working in New York City. Two years later, during what Leigh thought was a birthday party she had organized for Brendan, he surprised her with a proposal and an engagement party he “reorganized” with family and friends. The Reverend John “Jack” Wall officiated the couple’s Catholic marriage ceremony at Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago, one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. A reception followed at the Field Museum, home to Sue, the largest and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossil. The bride received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in 2002. She is a vice president, management supervisor for Grey, an advertising agency in New York City. Her parents are Michael and Ellen Walsdorf of River Forest, Illinois. The son of Kevin and Miriam Moynihan of New Canaan, the groom is a 1996 graduate of New Canaan High School and a 2000 graduate of Georgetown University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. He is an account manager for Genesco Sports Enterprises in Purchase, New York. After a two-week honeymoon in Napa, California, and Hawaii, the couple returned home to New York City. |
