Katherine Josselyn Stuart met Randall Joel Funke at the River Cat Grille in Rowayton. “I was out to dinner with friends, and Randy showed up with his band to try to get a gig,” recalls the bride. They talked for most of the night, discovering a common love of art and music and a shared birthday in July.
The couple’s wedding brought together family and friends in two unique and colorful venues. First, guests gathered for the ceremony at Lucy’s, a restaurant located at the back of ABC Carpet & Home, known for its colorful, artistic and international themes in home decor. Lindsay Hayes, a friend of the couple, became ordained for the occasion.
Following the vows a group of musicians dressed in Renaissance clothing played Old World music and led guests to the reception at Candela restaurant. Guests dined at long tables decorated with bright magenta silk tablecloths and orange napkins, handmade by the bride’s mother.
The bride’s father’s band played rock ’n’ roll music, and the groom surprised the bride by performing “You Sexy Thing” with wedding guests Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Mystic Bowie of the recording groups Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club. The groom’s band, King for a Day, performed an original song for the couple’s first dance.
The daughter of John and Bobbi Stuart of Norwalk and a Darien High School graduate, the bride received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Syracuse University. She is an art teacher at Darien High School and a working local artist.
The groom is a graduate of Westhill High School in Stamford. He received a bachelor’s degree in social history from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a recording engineer, computer programmer and musician who plays guitar. His parents are Mike and Francine Funke of Stamford.
The couple spent their honeymoon at the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, Vermont, before returning home to Rowayton.

Haley Alyssa Leone and Perry Ioannis Kourembanas met at a local pub during their junior year of college. They were introduced by the groom’s roommate and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brother. Four years later, during a weekend in Newport, Rhode Island, where the couple shared many summer vacations, Perry proposed. After a day at the beach, as was their tradition, they went to Ocean Drive for a game of backgammon. This time Perry “rolled” an engagement ring onto the board and asked Haley to be his wife.
They were married in an evening ceremony at St. Coleman Church in Middlefield by Monsignor Edward Karl, who was the bride’s priest from childhood. He also is the brother of Leo Karl of New Canaan, and the uncle of the groom’s best man and best friend, Robert Karl.
A reception followed at the nearby Wadsworth Mansion. The bride is a graduate of Bethel High School and the University of Connecticut with a doctor of pharmacy degree. She is a senior medical services specialist at Purdue Pharma in Stamford. Her parents are Kelly and Melanie Leone of Bethel.
The groom is a graduate of New Canaan High School and the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is an equities trader at Pequot Capital in Westport. His parents are John and Stacey Kourembanas of New Canaan, former owners of the Silvermine Market in New Canaan.
After a ten-day honeymoon in Los Cabos, Mexico, the couple returned home to Fairfield.
